Original research[edit]

Actually, the published obit was not quite correct... SKB passed away at his daughter's house where he had been living having been released from hospital a day or two beforehand. His illness was unspecified but brief, less than a week. I can't actually correct the article because this is original research; I just got off the phone with his daughter Michele. Other details: He was probably born as Stanley Bootle and adopted Kelly as a stage name, though his daughter didn't seem 100% positive on that. But his children are all named Bootle.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Akb4 (talkcontribs) 21:14, 11 July 2014‎

I've just checked quickly at Ancestry, com, and there was indeed a Stanley Bootle born in Liverpool in the last quarter of 1929. Mother's maiden name Gallagher, if that helps. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:39, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Degree vs. diploma[edit]

I don't understand 'He attended Downing College, Cambridge, graduating with a first class degree in Numerical Analysis and Automatic Computing in 1954, the first postgraduate diploma in computer science.' Did he get a degree or a diploma? 86.185.218.220 (talk) 13:40, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to the cited source, he got "the first ever degree in Numerical Analysis and Automatic Computing". I'll amend the wording. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:59, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
