Untitled[edit]

Should be simple enough to create a redirect from István , but probably a redirection of a lot of resources to actually rename the page and then redirect from Steven now- is my guess. Schissel | Sound the Note! 03:22, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Songs?[edit]

The list entitled "Songs" includes instrumental works as well as vocal, and includes performers. Is this actually a discography? If so, shouldn't it be titled as such?2600:1702:36F0:2500:59F6:A09B:BE0D:72 (talk) 22:25, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I'm going to change it! Lawrence18uk (talk) 08:53, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Did Heller study under Czerny?[edit]

I'm wondering whether Heller actually studied under Czerny. This article says he was sent (by whom? - his previous teacher, Franz Brauer?) to Vienna to study under Czerny, but he was unable to afford Czerny's expensive fees, so he studied with Anton Halm instead.

This is actually a bit ambiguous as to whether he studied with Czerny before he studied with Halm - I think it could be interpreted that, upon enquiring with Czerny, he immediately found that his fees would be too high, so he went away without any study with Czerny; but I think it could also be interpreted that he did a certain limited amount of study with Czerny before realizing that if he continued it would run his money down too much, so he left, and then went to Halm.

Another article (Isidor Philipp) states that Heller was a student of Czerny, without any qualification, so I wonder what information that was based on.

Given that the two articles differ about the exact relationship between Czerny and Heller, it would be good if it could be resolved one way or the other, and then both articles made to agree.

I find that, not too infrequently, different Wikipedia articles which mention the same fact do sometimes disagree in some details (the exact publication year of a book is an especially common example). I suppose it would be almost impossible to eliminate this fully, but I suppose any examples should be noted in the talk pages, so that maybe some person who knows the truth, or has access to books which would give reliable information, could resolve some of these differences.

This difference about the relationship (degree of actual study) between Czerny and Heller would be a typical example of this.M.J.E. (talk) 09:05, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
