“From the Vault” is a subtitle.[edit]

Every Taylor Swift song that has “(from the Vault)” is not part of the official title of the song, “from the Vault” is just a subtitle. Look at Message in a Bottle (Taylor Swift song), it is fully titled “Message in a Bottle (Taylor’s Version) (from the Vault)” on Apple Music, Amazon and physical CDs, however the page makes note that “(Taylor’s Version) (from the Vault)” are subtitles and not part the official title of the song itself. The same applies with “You’re Losing Me” so it should not be included in the infobox as part of the title nor should it be falsely claimed as being part of the title when it isn’t. So let’s stop with the WP:Vandalism, have some consistency and leave the subtitle out of the infobox and stop saying the song is officially titled that when it isn’t. The song is also registered as just “You’re Losing Me”. Thank you. 92.1.70.84 (talk) 12:45, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also another song that makes the point as well is I Bet You Think About Me another song with the subtitle “(Taylor’s Version) (from the Vault)”, has it noted but does not include either as part of the title in the infobox. 92.1.70.84 (talk) 13:21, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop Adding Album subtitle[edit]

Songs from different editions of an album do not need to have the subtitle of the edition in the infobox. That would be like adding the subtitles to Target or Walmart exclusive versions of the same album. It’s just unnecessary when it can just be noted. Look at Ours (song), this song was exclusively on the Target Exclusive (actual name on the side of the album) version and yet you don’t see that title in the infobox, it just says Speak Now. So let’s keep things consistent and stop with the WP:Vandalism and leave subtitles out of the infobox. 92.1.70.84 (talk) 13:00, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is no "Deluxe album" designation in the "Ours" infobox because Swift and the label explicitly said that it was a single for Speak Now generally. It is not the case for this song or other Midnights 3AM Edition songs. Ippantekina (talk) 05:01, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It’s the same thing! Same album different edition. It’s being inconsistent to include subtitles of albums. 147.147.63.15 (talk) 16:19, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Date of GA status, close paraphrase check checks out. No QPQ needed. That said, I'd encourage reflection on ALT hook, considering that Swift was a major international star when the album was released it is not unusual that the song was shared widely. Perhaps the fact that the album was sold at a specific event should be highlighted. --Soman (talk) 15:43, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Soman, I made two alternative hooks with the added location of where the CD was sold, both are just arranged differently. Does this suffice? Gained (talk) 10:43, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
for ALT1/ALT2, ok good, my preference is ALT2. --Soman (talk) 10:55, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gained @Soman I can't promote this hook quite yet. While the source does confirm that fans were eager to "get their hands on the disc" at MetLife Stadium, it also only confirms that some of the "first attendees" and not necessarily fans uploaded the song online. Maybe a slight reword would suffice? PrimalMustelid (talk) 01:09, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimalMustelid @Soman I made a slight tweak on the latter hook which Soman preferred, replacing "fans" with "attendees". Gained (talk) 07:17, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ALT3 is 204 characters. I can't promote this.--Launchballer 15:22, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimalMustelid @Soman @Launchballer Whoops I forgot about the character limit, my apologies.. I trimmed the hook to 194 characters. Gained (talk) 15:47, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you're okay with the further trimmed
ALT5:... that after releasing a CD edition of Taylor Swift's album Midnights at MetLife Stadium containing the exclusive song "You're Losing Me", some of the first purchasers uploaded the song online?
I can approve it, or I can also suggest:
ALT6: ... that before being widely shared online, the Taylor Swift song "You're Losing Me" was initially exclusive to a CD version of Midnights sold at a MetLife Stadium concert?--Launchballer 16:14, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Launchballer Both hooks are good, though I prefer ALT5 because this is what I had in mind when rephrasing ALT4.. but with better flow. Gained (talk) 16:28, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
