Hand-coding

Hey all :).

I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).

You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email at okeyeswikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).

Middletons

Following the brief discussion at Talk:Michael Middleton, I redirected the article on James, per the consensus reached in 2011. That was three days ago and it has not been changed back (yet). Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Bob Castle. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:56, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Greetings. I've traced back to your edit of 18:10, 13 Sept 2012, the mysterious initials JB in The Thick of It#Series 4. The show is being shown here in Portugal for the first time, so it's fun to follow the WP descriptions of the episodes, and make a few edits. But who or what is JB? Thunderbirds are Go

Although I've been a member for Years,I', still a comparative newly regarding how WikiPedia does things.Is there any way pointing out inconsistencies? In this case I'm thinking of the End Titles, featuring the Band of HM Royal Marines at Deal, where it is claimed that them entire sequence was filmed in one day. the inconsistency lies in the fact that whilst the majority of the sequence takes place on a bright sunny, cloudless day, the parade ground being absolutely bone dry, the final scene, with the Marines spelling out 'The End' appears to have been taken after heavy rain - the parade ground is soaking wet and the light is more like that from an overcast sky,

Any thoughts?

Merge discussion

I want to apologise if the discussion annoyed you. I closed it as a keep with no consensus. The intent of the discussion was to gain understanding as to why the dress itself (aside from the fact it was worn by a notable Princess) merited it's very own article and why it's notable. Someday I'll feel happy using the talk page rather than trying to move the page, have it reverted, and then having to explain the poor decision. VegasCasinoKid (talk) 02:56, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Thunderbirds: GA to FA?

Hi, Bob. I think that it would be fantastic if, following in the footsteps of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, this article were to reach Featured status one day. As someone who helped with the Captain Scarlet FAC (five years ago!), do you have any ideas for improvement with regard to meeting FA standards? A rather broad question, I know; any suggestions (no matter how big or small) would be greatly appreciated!

My ideas are quite thin on the ground, although I would argue that little, if any, expansion is necessary – I more or less exhausted all of the print sources in my possession prior to the GA review, and in terms of production there's really nothing more to say. I strongly believe that the references section at the end shouldn't be added to any further.

A Good Topic nomination, as you suggested on my talk page a couple of months ago, is an idea as well; however, I'm slightly concerned that omitting the 2004 film (currently C-class) might leave the scope open to criticism – your thoughts? If that particular article had Good status, I suppose that a "Thunderbirds films" GT would certainly work.

Elusive Black Dog Ceildh Band

You have deleted it from the article on Black Shuck - the name was referring to that particular black dog hence the epithet elusive and the band members coming from that part of teh country and not general black dogs or black dog legends.

Not only have you removed it BUT you did not replace it in the article that you think it should go in. WHY not?

Hi there. Unfortunately the band, much as I enjoy a good celidh, don't quite meet the notability criteria at WP:BAND so despite having a name that references the subject of the article, it's not enough to warrant a mention on what is an article otherwise free of In popular culture references. Secondly, as it was a first edit by an anonymous editor, it's a fair assumption that it was added by somebody with a connection to the group, thus appears to be promotional.
