A cookie for you![edit]

Thank you for applying for Adminship. I'm sorry it didn't seem to turn out well in this case and I hope to see you back in four to six months. Not having a successful RFA isn't anything to get down about, it happens. Just try to take what you've learned to improve your editing before next time. There is plenty of work to do with the tools and there will be plenty more still in 6 months. Keep up the good work. v/r - TP 19:19, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! :) SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 19:21, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of tea for you to go with the cookie![edit]

I second that kind message from TP. Before trying again you may wish to read Advice for RfA candidates and follow the links in it. You may also like to check out my notes for RfA because it you can match them, you'll match anyone's criteria. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page, and I look forward to supporting you next time round. RFA Nomination[edit]

I know I didn't vote to support, but I'm sorry that your RFA nomination didn't go how you'd hoped. For what it's worth, I laughed and appreciated your response to that question! I hope to see you back for another, more successful attempt, in the near future! Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:29, 3 January 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Hotel Polen fire[edit]

The lede still needs more. It needs to be fleshed out as much as possible, so that it has at least two sizable paragraphs (instead of the current three meagre ones). I'd also suggest moving the sources from the lede to the body of the article, as (I hope) that the same information appears later on in the article with appropriate sources. Are you sure there isn't more information on the fire, either? It's relatively short, so it could use all the information possible. Don't worry about adding too much detail in this case--once the article has been expanded, I, and other reviewers, can work with you to tighten it up a bit. Do you have any more background information on the hotel? The reactions? Aftermath? etc. Hope these suggestions are helpful! Auree 02:22, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I should need to find a book to be able to add more information. Much of the detailed information comes from the fire department report and it is unsure how much these guys were "covering their asses" so to say. So I guess this has to go on the back-burner until I find more information elsewhere. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 02:35, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

David Wijnkoop[edit]

Knowing your political preferences, I don't think you will have much sympathy for the political ideas of David Wijnkoop. I have been translating the article about him, but I think is rather dodgy and badly sourced. Can you take a very critical look at the article draft and shower it generously with comments about lacking info, missing sources and everything else you can think about? (Just throw it into the text, preferably as small text) You can find the draft at User:Night of the Big Wind/Workpage11. Thanks in advance. Night of the Big Wind talk 18:08, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can find sources on Google Books, but of course you are probably a long way from a library which stacks these books. Maybe some of the books he wrote are online, he died more than 70 years ago so his works are now PD (then again as a communist he probably wouldn't have cared much about copyrights anyways):
http://www.google.nl/search?q=David+Wijnkoop&btnG=Boeken+zoeken&tbm=bks&tbo=1&hl=nl
You can also find a few articles on http://kranten.kb.nl
I would suggest incorporating more of the text behind bullet points into the main text. It reads better and makes the article look less like a CV. SpeakFree (talk)(contribs) 22:04, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, rewrote a few parts as you had adviced. Night of the Big Wind talk 12:02, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Hoofddorp train disaster by Cor Mulder (ANP).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Elfstedentocht[edit]

I've reverted your deletion of the 2012 Elfstedentocht material. It is looking increasingly likely that the race will be run, and the material in the current article will be useful for transferral to a dedicated article on the 2012 race if it is run. Should an announcement be forthcoming that the race won't be run, then the material can be removed. See my comments on the talk page. Mjroots (talk) 15:09, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Onterechte unreferenced tags[edit]

Beste SpeakFree,

Fentener van Vlissingen (talk) 17:19, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photo collage in Computer[edit]

My change was not because of their size or possible bias. It was because it results in a long line of photos that spreads across the entire screen from the far left (even into the non-article, wikipedia bar, going into the "Interaction" section) to the far right, i.e. violating WP:MOSIM. This is related to computer settings and browser. In Explorer 9, you get the long line, except if you manually click to change compatibility settings. They're shown correctly in Firefox. The most widespread browser is still Explorer, so many are likely to see it the way I did. Unfortunately I do not know how to solve this collage problem, but if used, the issue should preferably be solved. RN1970 (talk) 20:53, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. I thought you were using a mobile device and I had loaded the page on my mobile phone and it looked fine there. I never use Internet Explorer anymore and I just loaded the page in IE9 and saw what happened. The wrap template is obviously not compatible with Microsoft's own botched "extended" version of HTML. I copied the HTML code used in the previous collage and it looks good now. Targaryenspeak or forever remain silent 21:29, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation urgently needs YOUR help!

Articles for Creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 2830 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our Help Desk.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?

  5. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions.

We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 2 or 3 reviews, it would be extremely beneficial.

Your Questia online library codes failed to deliver[edit]

We tried to use Wikipedia email to deliver your account access information but you either did not provide an email address in your preferences or had it set up not to receive messages from other editors. You can change both on the first page of Special:Preferences. To fix the situation directly or to let me know you've changed your preferences, just email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. ArbitrageCommissie[edit]

Hilarisch. The Banner talk 09:11, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?

PS: we have a great AFC helper script at WP:AFCH!

Replaceable fair use File:TanjaNijmeijer.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TanjaNijmeijer.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 17:10, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Treinrampschiedam.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.
