NR Focus redesign[edit]
Maybe you already know this, but NPS Focus has been significantly redesigned, and the URLs for nominations are all different. At least for now, the old URLs still work; the Old Fort Mitchell HD nomination still exists at http://focus.nps.gov/pdfhost/docs/NRHP/Text/89001170.pdf, but if you go through their search interface, it's at http://focus.nps.gov/GetAsset?assetID=a2ccc1d5-4c79-4cff-9443-d6d86db9d3e4. The new system is completely unsystematic, as far as we can tell. However, there's a new simple way to get to their records for a place: http://focus.nps.gov/AssetDetail/NRIS/89001170 takes you to a page with links to both nomination and images, along with other information about the property. Do you remember where you got the original location information for NRHP listings, that is, the source for the location your infobox creator puts out? I can't find it in the .dbf files I downloaded (from the 2009 version), and the old files aren't there anymore. Earlier today, I started a discussion related to modifying {{infobox NRHP}} — if successful, this will result in the removal of the |Governing body= parameter entirely. The proposal is merely to remove the template's ability to recognise the parameter, i.e. |Governing body= will have no more effect than |nfbsourbgdbhuodr= would, but it wouldn't have any harmful effect either. As a result, should it pass, you'll be able to remove that parameter from the generator if you feel like it, but doing nothing won't have any effect, either. Request changes to infobox generator[edit]
Once again, thank you for your very useful tool. I'd like to request some modest changes to the infobox generator, partly as a result of the Wikipedia:Coordinates in infoboxes initiative. This work is deprecating the individual lat/lon fields in infoboxes in preferences to a single coordinate parameter whose value uses the {{coord}} template. If you could change the generator to produce this (see e.g. here for example, but a bot is editing many NRHP articles), that would be a boon.
A second change would be to add "#USA" to the locmapin parameter (after the state, if it's actually a state), allowing for the user-selectable map display. Magic♪piano 14:07, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

Your Infobox generator[edit]
Hi, I have seen your NRHP Query site, which is very useful, and i was wondering how it works. to be specific i want to create something similar to work with NHLE data from here: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/data-downloads/. it would create a basic infobox using the historic sites infobox template but would otherwise work in a similar way to what you have done. NRHP infobox changes[edit]
Hi, there were a couple discussion threads, since archived, at wt:NRHP; this note is just to pull out a couple items. One was whether you could fix it so that "locmapin = STATE" always appears, again. Or "locmapin=STATE#USA", i don't care. Often or perhaps always when you don't have any coordinates, it does not appear, and often this happens also when you do have coordinates. I don't know what triggers it.
I think my other leading request, if you are making any changes, would be for you to put "source:NRIS2013a" into any coordinates that your system does add, to help us sort out which coordinates have been improved or not. My requesting that, with some more detail, was in since-archived Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Archive 66#NRHP 2014 database loaded. FYI, the other perhaps-easy-to-address changes were:
- Also where your NRIS2013a data does not include coordinates (which is fine, as we often/usually have coordinates figured out some other way), could you possibly please include a commented out line for the coordinates, as in:

It didn't come with any coordinates, so I'm leaving the old reference in there. - Thanks for reply and notification to my Talk page. About coordinates, your collective database does have coordinates in it, although not for all listings, and although I hear you that they are not from the newish NRIS 2013 download. Whatever the label is exactly, I would like for there to be a label signifying that the coordinates came from your collective database. Make it "source:Elkman2009" or "source:Elkman2018" or "source:NRIS2009a" or "source:NPS2009unconfirmed" or "source:NRISoriginal" or any combination of letters and numbers at all, whatever would be short and perhaps descriptive. Where did you get the coordinates from, that are included / how do you put it into words, yourself? I would think it is okay to call it "source:NRIS2009a" because you had it when the 2009a version of NRIS was out, or "source:NRIS2013a" because it is what you have available now, corresponding to your copy of NRIS 2013a database. Random letters like "Source:ABCDE12345" would actually be okay, though not very descriptive. This won't display to readers. It will just be in the coord templates and available for NRHP editors sometimes to check, and especially available for programmers to use to identify which coordinates came in from your collective database, vs. which ones have been positively checked and/or refined by NRHP editors using Google satellite view or other approaches. One application would be for the wp:NRHPPROGRESS page to display how many NRHPs in each county have original vs. refined vs. unknown coordinates. It would help in the overall initiative to improve coordinates, if you would provide your support for the conceptual idea that a source can be given. Special:WantedTemplates[edit]
Hi, I have been cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates and noticed that Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_" is pointing to your monobook.js pages. clearly these are false positives (basically a bug in how WP parses .js pages). it would be really great if you could add // <syntaxhighlight lang=javascript> to the top and // </syntaxhighlight> to the bottom of those pages. by putting these tags in comments, it won't prevent the javascript from executing, but it will remove those pages from Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_". alternatively, if you are no longer using the monobook skin (many people are using vector these days) and don't need to keep the old page, you could just have the page deleted. thank you in advance for your help. Hello, Elkman. SandyGeorgia thought we should wait until August when I get home to my books before we start the Minneapolis FAR. Could you possibly find the time to review the History section? I wonder about some things: just one example, is it accurate to say NSP bought out the mills and used them for hydroelectricity? (Or is there a step from mill to plant?) I keep expanding (at featured article review, I had omitted lumbering!) and cutting in this section and will take a break now. - They're allowing some time for the featured article review so we can fix it? That's generous. I thought the FAR process was to get stuff delisted as quickly as possible. I'll take a look at the History section as my time allows, though that's may have to wait until after July 9. As far as NSP using the mills for hydropower is concerned, I don't remember reading anything about repurposing old flour mills for electricity. If I remember correctly, Twin City Rapid Transit Company originally built the hydropower plant at St. Anthony Falls so they could power their streetcars, and then NSP bought the plant once TCRT scrapped the streetcar system. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 18:26, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, Elkman. July 9 or later is great. Sandy has worked on Minneapolis off and on for about three years. She described it as continually five steps forward, one step back. We got a breather now because the sockpuppet farm is blocked, and WP:RSN resolved a long-running content problem.
- Lucile Kane wrote two whole chapters on the transition to electricity. It's so complicated I've read it twice and am starting over again now. I believe TCRT leased the lower dam's power from Pillsbury-Washburn and then sublet the Hennepin Island plant (also built by De la Barre at Pillsbury-Washburn).
