Spin Off?

Introduction says "It is also the second longest running animated spin off (the longest is The Simpsons which has being airing since late 1989)". Is 'The Simpsons' a spin off? I didn't think it was and if it's not that would mean ATHF is the longest animated spin off. Can anyone settle this issue? Sweetness46 (talk) 01:27, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

The Simpsons was originally a sketch on The Tracey Ullman Show. --Muboshgu (talk) 02:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Space Ghost Coast to Coast (a spin-off of Space Ghost and Dino Boy) is the second longest spin off as far as I know. Hoppybunny (talk) 01:43, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Talk Page Archived

Okay, since the talk page was becoming too large to handle(nearly 30 sections), I've decided to manually archive the page. If you wish to continue a discussion that is now archived, please continue it here. I've also added a new Archive navigational system. Enjoy the empty talk page people! :D  Dylanlip  (talk) 14:00, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

FYI. You are welcome to comment on this AFD. Ikip (talk) 19:08, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Show Title

Mr. Prez, please do not rename this page to "Aqua Teen Hungerforce". This is not the title of the show. It is, and always has been, "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" Gpia7r (talk) 19:01, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

More Episodes

Will there be more episodes? Therabbot (talk) 22:50, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes! Grapesoda22 (talk) 20:59, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Postmodern Humor

The introduction to this article states "The series has been cited as an example of postmodern humor." And cites a boston.com article and a class syllabus. While I have no disagreement with the fact that ATHF is postmodern humor, I'm not sure how relevant this sentence is. For one thing, the boston.com article doesn't "cite it as an example," it simply uses the term "post-modern" at one point in its lengthy criticism. And is a class syllabus really a worthy source? I took a postmodern literature class where we discussed The Monster at the End of This Book: Starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover but that doesn't mean its article gets to say that it's a great example of postmodern literature.

If anyone wants to mention that ATHF is postmodern humor then that term could easily be slipped into the description somewhere without implying that the show is a popular example people cite a lot. --24.168.240.243 (talk) 17:32, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1

We need to cover this.[1] – Muboshgu (talk) 13:00, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

It seems to be basically a different or 'sequel' series, so will it need a separate article page? 94.192.45.239 (talk) 11:31, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

No. They just renamed the show.Bofum (talk) 03:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Title of the Article

This article was recently moved to Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 without proper discussion. I have now moved it back. The Adult Swim web site treats the shows separately, so AUPS1 probably needs a separate article as a spin-off of ATHF. Even if we were to consider them the same show, WP:NAME would seem to support leaving it at Aqua Teen Hunger Force, as that is still the name by which it is most commonly known. Aqua Teen Hunger ForceAqua Teen Hunger Force / Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 – Since the series has both titles, I like propose a new name per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:TV-NAME. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 22:54, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Oppose unessesary text adding, just make a redirect. Also, you can move by yourself. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 22:59, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose: I don't think this is the common name. –CWenger (^@) 23:25, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose unless proof can be provided that people regularly combine the two names together in this fashion while talking about the show it is not a Common name.--76.66.180.175 (talk) 04:08, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
PS There also does not appear to be anything in WP:TV-NAME that covers a situation like this.--76.66.180.175 (talk) 04:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Lead paragraph

As the article is primarily about the ATHF incarnation and the page is currently at that title, "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" should be the first name mentioned in the lead sentence. Grapesoda22's constant changes to the page to usurp the former name have not been in line with this website's various policies and guidelines and have been fixed.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:29, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Aqua Teen Hunger ForceAqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 – In 2011 the series title was officially changed from Aqua Teen Hunger Force to Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. The title should be changed to reflect the series' current title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grapesoda22 (talkcontribs) 03:24, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

  • Oppose as it is. The show is more recognizable as Aqua Teen Hunger Force. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 07:11, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
The series is no longer called Aqua Teen Hunger Force its called Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. Why should the article have an outdated title just because its "more recognizable"? Grapesoda22 (talk) 08:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, just because it is recognizable and it is longest running series and should be leave it as it is. See WP:MOSTV and WP:NAME for more information. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 08:19, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Comment Based on the press release, Aqua Teen Hunger Force has technically ended, with Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 being considered a new series. I would think that there is some recognition of this, given that the upcoming DVD set is designated "Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1: Season 1," rather than "Season 8" or "Volume 8". Dancter (talk) 13:50, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Concur with comment. I think we should simply create a new article for the new title. --Kumioko (talk) 14:29, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, okay, I think a split should do it. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 15:17, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Technically considered different shows or not, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 are almost exactly the same, making separate articles to cover the same information is unnecessary and redundant. Grapesoda22 (talk) 17:01, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose: There's no knowing if the AUPS1 moniker is even going to stick considering all of the jokes they made at the name change. And Grapesoda22, because it's "more recognizable" it's the more common name. Ten years as ATHF is not going to be trumped because of a jocular retitling.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:12, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Oppose It will always be known casually as Aqua Teen Hunger Force making it the go to name. As the more recognizable show, the article should remain as is. Making separate articles IS one route to go but in the long run, I think it would ultimately wind up getting merged back into this one. Giving Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 its own section of the article seems like the more reasonable idea. NJZombie (talk) 18:46, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Genre?

Aren't absurdist humour & surreal humour basically the same thing? 188.222.41.105 (talk) 21:12, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

"ridiculous and absurd" vs "unexpected juxtaposition". sounds like different things to me. DP76764 (Talk) 21:45, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

I get your point but if you click on absurdist humour it redirects to surreal humour. 188.222.41.105 (talk) 07:31, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

lol, this in itself sounds like the basis for an ATHF episode. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.91.38.75 (talk) 03:11, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Boston episode

There is no Boston episode. It's a joke. It was always a joke. --207.255.209.41 (talk) 18:18, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

I believe in "Boston" but not so much Death Fighter Grapesoda22 (talk) 21:20, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
