Article name change[edit]

Can this article please be moved to Spawn Point, to reflect its 2017 name change? --2405:7F00:AA0E:3C00:692D:E25C:E030:6EE3 (talk) 23:34, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The show is still often referred to as "Good Game: Spawn Point", and has been for almost eight years. The "Good Game" prefix also acts as a natural disambiguator—without it, the article title would be "Spawn Point (TV series)"; I think the former is simpler. – Rhain 13:07, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Only a few places still refer to it as Good Game: Spawn Point such as when some news websites specifically refer to that show to make it clear that it was part of Good Game and its other spin-offs. The Spawnlings writing in to Ask Spawn Point also still mistakenly call it Good Game or GG because they are used to knowing it by that name. In fact, it used to be referred to in TV guides etc as Good Game SP more often than its full name or original title card name. While the show has Good Game's DNA, Spawn Point has been gradually standing out as its own show, also helped by how the "younger" in their tagline, "The show for younger gamers, by gamers" was removed a few years ago. While I can understand the handiness of having a prefix, it seems odd for Spawn Point on its own to have virtually no usage in the article as it is clear that the Good Game was dropped from its title at the start of 2017 following its cancellation. Surely there must be other examples on Wikipedia where a name has been changed even though it was originally part of something bigger linked with a common name that a redirect would cause no issues. --49.199.224.239 (talk) 05:43, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"News websites" are actually what we base our article titles on, per WP:COMMONNAME. There's no real sufficient evidence that the show has been renamed, only re-branded—in fact, the official ABC Careers website refers to the show as "Good Game: Spawn Point" in the recent job listing, so it looks like the full name is still in use. – Rhain 05:50, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand the points being made, even if I may not entirely agree with Wikipedia's Common Name policy and there are certain systems used on Wikipedia I fail to grasp at. It made me wonder if many still say Good Game: Spawn Point because of the Wikipedia article though. I can cope with having the show's original title in use on this page, but I don't think this should stop hyperlinks on pages such as Good Game, Steven O'Donnell, and ABC ME written as Spawn Point. The "Current Australia children's television series" template already lists it as Good Game SP. --172.196.236.168 (talk) 12:12, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think this article has much influence on the show's viewers, believe me. – Rhain 15:29, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
